Choosing Window Shutters on the Gold Coast that Will Suit Your Home

Many people choose to install window shutters in their home, whether it is for aesthetics, privacy or to improve the resale value of their property. Of course, they also play a large role in protecting the windows during bad weather. There are many different types of window shutters available on the market but knowing the difference between them can help you make an informed choice.
Queensland can be home to some destructive storms throughout the year, so it is important to install window shutters on Gold Coast properties. If, God forbid, there was a storm that could potentially cause damage to your property, these shutters will protect your windows from both the wind and wind-borne debris. If a window were to break during a storm, the wind can put a lot of pressure on the walls and the roof which is a major hazard. For this reason, window and door shutters should be installed in at-risk buildings.
Luckily, shutters do not have to be something that makes your property look less inviting. Choosing the right type of shutters can actually improve the look of your house. Homeowners with French windows or sliding doors can go for sliding shutters to keep the open feeling in a room. Alternatively, if you have rounded windows or just those with an unusual shape, then you can have special shaped shutters made to fit your property.
Hinged shutters can be opened or closed to suit your needs, so you can get a clear view without much of an issue. The hinges also mean that it can be installed inside or outside the window reveal. Bi-fold shutters also give the option to open them fully, but take up less space. Plantation shutters can be used but have a tilt bar that obscures the view from between the louvres. You can avoid this with clearview shutters, which give the look and feel of plantation shutters without the tilt bar.
Aluminium shutters make great window shutters for Gold Coast properties because they can withstand stronger winds. The lack of a tilt bar in them also allow for a much better view through the windows. Before you make a purchase, think about your specific needs. The style can also depend on whether you need more privacy, insulation or just to block the bright summer sun.

  1. It really is interesting to see all the different kinds of things that can be done to better your home. My wife is actually dying to have some kind of exterior shutters added, more for decoration, but they also would be a great way to keep the sun out when it is blaring through the windows. I personally think that the idea is great, it just comes down to knowing the right kind of materials and design that would really suit the house.
